No more missing emails, 80 K onboard in five months.
Problem statement
The WordPress site fails to send system emails. This frustrates website visitors, who could be missing emails such as a purchase transaction. As a result, the website owners may lose clients and incur financial losses.
Goal
Create a product that will ensure the successful delivery of system emails to website visitors' inboxes. Website owners should also be able to track the system emails their site is sending and see their statuses.
Impact
The launch of Site Mailer had a clear and measurable impact across the community, industry, and business:
Earned strong positive feedback from the Elementor Facebook community.
Received praise from independent YouTube reviewers for ease and reliability.
Generated a new revenue stream for Elementor.
Research
User research
Elementor’s Facebook community highlighted a need for a solution to send system emails, like account activations and order confirmations. These differ from marketing emails sent via platforms like Mailchimp.
Market research
I tested multiple WordPress plugins and SMTP platforms to analyze their onboarding, dashboards, email authentication, and deliverability features.
Insights
Current solutions do not cover all of the user's needs:
They have complicated flows.
They offer only the SMTP protocol integration or a log dashboard.
Solution
Site Mailer offers an easy plug-and-play solution. Users are assigned an authenticated email, ensuring system emails reach the mailbox. The intuitive dashboard allows users to monitor email logs, troubleshoot issues, and authenticate their domains for a more professional appearance.
Onboarding to the plugin.
AHA Moment!
User testing, of the onboarding, revealed that our “auto test email” idea fell flat users ignored the email and preferred testing the product themselves. We pivoted and added a clear in-app pop-up to confirm when Site Mailer was successfully working.
Typographic clarity
Enhanced typography and color-coded statuses help users absorb information quickly. Key details like email subjects, source plugins, and delivery statuses stand out at a glance.
Next steps
We want to add more capabilities, such as searching and filtering the data on the table.
